How it's built

The Bulsae is the double on our menu: one beef patty and one shrimp patty in the same burger, topped with a blend of bulgogi sauce and tartar. Each sauce comes from the burger its patty is known for. Bulgogi sauce is the sweet-and-savory base of our Bulgogi Burger, and the zesty tartar comes from our Shrimp Burger. Because they're stacked together, each bite has both patties and both sauces.

The Korean name, 불새, means “firebird.” Its two syllables also echo the patties: bul, as in bulgogi, and sae, as in saeu, the Korean word for shrimp. The Bulsae is listed at $15.99, or $20.99 as a combo.

One combined burger or two separate ones

The choice comes down to whether you want beef and shrimp in the same bite or side by side. Here are three ways to get both, at listed prices:

  • Bulsae Burger, $15.99: one burger with both patties.
  • Bulgogi Burger ($11.99) and Shrimp Burger ($12.99), ordered separately: $24.98 for two full burgers.
  • Perfect Match Set, $29.58: one Bulgogi Burger, one Shrimp Burger, ggultteok and gimmari.

The Bulsae fits if

  • you're one person who wants both flavors in every bite
  • you usually order a double

Separate burgers fit if

  • two people are sharing and each wants a whole burger
  • you want to taste the shrimp patty on its own, with its lettuce, onion and tartar
  • one of you prefers beef and the other prefers shrimp

If two of you would order sides anyway, the Perfect Match Set adds a sweet side and a savory side to the same two burgers. Our pickup and group set guide shows how the set compares with ordering item by item.

Before you order

The Bulsae includes shrimp, which is shellfish, so check with our staff first if anyone in your group has a shellfish allergy. For a closer look at how the two patties differ on their own, see our shrimp and beef comparison. Prices can change, and the menu has the current listings.
